Tony Johnson has spent 17 years working in the retail industry, the last 14 of which have been in IT. Until a year ago he was IT Director at Virgin Retail, a position he had held for four years. In September 2007 he was part of the management team that successfully completed an MBO of Virgin Retail to create zavvi entertainment group – the largest independent entertainment retailer on the UK high street. 

During the past five years he has overseen a fundamental overhaul of store systems, as well as the introduction of major new enterprise systems, across the business intelligence, supply chain and e-commerce arenas. As IT Director at Virgin Retail, and latterly zavvi, he is responsible for shaping the IT strategy across all channels, as well as the day-to-day provision of all IT services to stores, online and head office. Tony holds a Bachelor’s of Science (Hons) degree in Land Management from the University of Reading.
